As part of the #SoodCharityFoundation’s #WomensDay initiative, we are giving a shoutout to women making a difference at the grassroot level. The Nirbhaya case in India, left all of us horrified and outraged at the face of humanity. Aishwarya Jain—an engineering student then—could not understand why someone would commit such an act. She visited Sabarmati Jail in Gujarat to research the psychology behind such crimes, two years after the incident still disturbed her deeply.Aishwarya developed an interest in cognitive psychology and found the workings of the brain fascinating. She speaks about training the brain in simple ways to get what we desire. Similar to how we train our brains to learn a new language or an instrument.IM Happiness, founded in 2020 by @aishwarya_12 ,is a research and think tank lab that positively trains the mind using science and spirituality to align mind, body, and soul.IM Happiness has worked in the rural segment on mental well-being. The Department of Health and the UNICEF are their partners.During COVID-19, they set up more than 20,000 ‘happiness camps’ across Gujaratwho provided support to the people who were struggling mentally and physically. Currently, IM Happiness is running a yearly campaign called ‘Hello Happiness’ with the idea to make mentorship available free to those in need.Do you know any such selfless woman working to make another person’s life better? As part of the #SoodCharityFoundation’s #WomensDay initiative, we are giving a shoutout to women making a difference at the grassroot level. Shanti Rai is India’s first woman rafter and water-rescuer who has saved hundreds of people from the raging waters of the River Teesta that flows through Sikkim and West Bengal. Despite the risks and a lack of sophisticated safety equipment, Shanti has saved over 1400 lives - 1200 were during the 2008 Bihar floods. “I’m proud to have broken the glass ceiling as India’s first woman rafter and rescue expert in a profession where only men work,” says Shanti. She works with dedication, inspiring young girls to follow in her footsteps.Do you know any such selfless woman working to make another person’s life better? As part of the #SoodCharityFoundation’s #WomensDay initiative, we are giving a shoutout to women making a difference at the grassroot level. In 2013, Sakshi Srivastava observed two children in a Delhi-based fast food restaurant eating from the plate she just discarded in the dustbin. The incident left her determined to find the reason behind this and whether it was due to a lack of education or extreme hunger.Sakshi then started visiting organisations that worked with underprivileged children to understand their situation better.Srivastava herself came from an area where underprivileged girls often faced the question of the purpose of education. Coming from an underprivileged background herself, Srivastava empathized with the struggles these kids faced. It's tough for many poor girls to escape their situation, but Srivastava's father broke the cycle by advocating for her sister's education at Banaras Hindu University. Inspired, Srivastava and her other siblings went on to complete their own higher studies. In 2016, she and her friends founded Anubhuti, a non-profit providing quality education to underprivileged children. Starting with 30 children in Delhi, they expanded to Ghaziabad. Anubhuti now has a team of 200, with 89% women. Her findings suggest that these children were dropouts or out-of-school and discovered that 47 million children faced a similar fate. Without intervention, they risk being stuck in low-income jobs or child labor indefinitely, Anubhuti today is helping such children make their future!Do you know any such selfless woman working to make another person’s life better? As part of the #SoodCharityFoundation’s #WomensDay initiative, we are giving a shoutout to women making a difference at the grassroot level. Smt. Jogindra Devi here is running her deceased husband’s gur business not to make profits, but to continue the employment of the people of her village who were appointed by her husband. Lovingly called ‘Ma’ by those who work with her. The boss-grandmother is described as a ‘taskmaster with a heart of gold’. “With so much competition in the market and responsibilities at home, we barely break even. But as long as I can pay the people who work here, I am happy!” Jogindra Devi says.Do you know any such selfless woman working to make another person’s life better?
