#Jai Hind

Rightly dubbed as the National Hero of India, Sonu Sood never fails at winning hearts with his grand acts of kindness towards the underprivileged and needy.

Recently, Sonu Sood Help through crowdfunding gave a new lease of life to a young, 22-month old child from Jaipur in Rajasthan, by availing the world’s most expensive injection called “Zolgensma”, worth Rs 17 crore.

The child in context was suffering from Type-2 Spinal Muscular Atrophy or SMA Type II. It is a rare, genetic disorder caused by mutation of motor neurons responsible for voluntary muscle movement. The symptoms of this disease start showing between 6 and 12 months of age. To sit without support is considered a milestone in SMA Type II patients. The muscle weakness prevents them from walking on their own lifelong.

The campaign initiated by the child Hridayansh’s family in March this year was supported by people from all sections of the society, thereby raising 9 crore rupees in a matter of three months. Brought from the United States to JK Lone Hospital in Jaipur, the ‘Zolgensma’ injection could be funded due to communal cooperation.

Such is the power of uniting for a cause!

Sood’s acts of kindness have saved several lives previously also. It all started from the initiatives of Sonu Sood Covid 19 Help extended to migrant workers India saw struggling to reach their homes during the pandemic. As lockdown got imposed, millions of immigrant workers got stuck away from their homes, with no sources of employment. Not only did Sood help over 15,000 workers return home by facilitating travel across states by buses, trains and flights but also he provided food and shelter to thousands of those in need.

From hospital beds and oxygen supplies for COVID-19 patients, to PPE kits and safety gear for frontline workers, Sood Charity Foundation arranged them all.

However, Sood knew that wouldn’t suffice. To combat the decline in employment opportunities especially for the immigrants and working class, the Sonu Sood app Pravasi Rojgar surfaced as a reliable platform for employers to meet service providers across regions and sectors and vice-versa online.

A Singapore-based investment company ‘Temasek’ contributed to the noble cause. Since then, migrant workers have been matched with more than 10 lakh job prospects. In addition, the campaign helps workers to improve their skills and become a better fit to the job they are applying for. Learnet Skills, a joint venture between Schoolnet India and the National Skill Development Corporation, conducts the skill development training for workers.

Talking of Sonu Sood’s career in the movies, he is focused on his directorial and writing debut with ‘Fateh’ co-starring Jacqueline Fernandez. Produced by Sood’s home production Shakti Sagar and Zee Studios, ‘Fateh’ has been filmed across San Francisco, Punjab and other locations. Aligning with Sonu’s philanthropic values, ‘Fateh’ is a means of spreading awareness about cybercrime in India – a rising issue he had to tackle while pursuing his altruistic endeavors in the pandemic.
